MY LIFE GOT
BETTER WHEN I ALMOST STOPPED GOING TO CHURCH
There is every possibility that you must have come here to
attack me for this controversial post. Thanks to God that you came here. I am
sure a secret will be revealed to you before you close down this page. When the
secret is unveiled, you will understand why my life was in a mess when I was a
dedicated “church goer”. Just be
open-minded.
Something baffles me and causes me to think deeply. I sought
for the great achievers the world has produced. So I found – in Science -
Einstein, Newton, Hugo, Pluto, Edison and so on. In economic achievement - to a
good extent - Bill Gates stands out. In politics, Obama and Lincoln are great
figures.
Now, almost all these guys, these great achievers in
science, Politics and economic achievements never or rarely displayed a stung
and fanatic view of God. Einstein said: “I
do not believe in a personal God, I believe in Spinoza’s God who shows himself
in the harmony of the universe”
Research for yourself and you will see that the great achievers
the world has produced were never “church goers”. They have little or no view
of a personal God, who should be pleased by keeping church traditions (that is
what I mean by ‘church goers’). They believe in a universal God, worshiped by
keeping the laws of the universe.
Let’s move along, to how being so much dedicated to Church
activities almost ruined my life.
I grew up in a Christian home. I have the upbringing to get
closer to God by attending Church activities and keeping to Church traditions
(though this can be true to some extent). I have being a church fanatic. But
going deeper into church, something happened! I found I was losing my
spirituality and my ability to think. I was made to believe everything by faith
(without thinking for myself), I was made to believe that the more I obey the
man of God and my church teachers, the more closer I get to God; the worst was
that I found many were hooking up with their opposite sex in Church, in the
wrong way, but they believe because since their friendship began in church
whatever they do doesn’t matter.
I went deeper into Church believing that’s the way to
salvation. I saw that though I love Christ, Christians are messing up. They
come to church in quest for financial gain, recognition, to fulfil all
righteousness and in search for a boy friend or girl friend. This is bull shit!
The Church is a spiritual place and should be attended for spiritual motives.
Now let me tell you more of what I saw in church:
Most of the so called church
leaders are false leaders. I said this for a reason. I don’t care how they
live their life. I don’t judge and I don’t care. But they are greedy. They build empires; ride on big cars and Jets, with the money collected
from Church members (even the poor ones). They are never satisfied with what
they have; they don’t care what the poor congregations are passing through.
They care to enrich themselves and get more investments with Church offering.
Is that how Christ lived?
The so called fathers
and mothers in the church are there with selfish and greedy motives for
personal gain. The youths in the
church, gather looking for the right one to hook up with.
The church does not teach how to reason, it teaches its
members to believe. Faith continues where the reason stops, but most church
leaders preach religion jargons that have no logical ground and teaches no practical
lesson to the church.
I saw a lot of things going wrong in the Church. I will stop
here and proffer solutions on how to become better Christians.
First, the universal laws which can be viewed as the rules
of God who created it should be held first before the rules of a church. The
great achievers might not believe in a personal God, but they believe in Karma.
They know that what goes around comes around. So they try doing well so that
good comes back to them. But the so called believer,
believes as taught in Church, he has to attend all church activities, obey
the man of God and so on (not withstanding his values are in mess).
No need to go too far. Many years ago, our master, Christ,
made these statements: “the children of
the world are wiser than the children of light.” “Arm robbers, prostitutes and
drunk will first you (church goers) to enter the kingdom of God”.
We are in a generation that people are beginning to believe
that the more they go to church, respect the man of God and keep to church rules,
the more their sins are covered. This is a dangerous ideology! If not attacked
now, Christians will lose Christ.
Prophecy and miracles are good, but I don’t think they are
important than the law of Karma. No I don’t think so. Doing good to our neighbors
in the greatest good I can think of. But the church is weak in teaching this, rather
they are more concerned in prophesying and doing miracles when the church is
full of sycophants.
Going to Church is good when we go with the grand intention of learning how to be good, think positively and live in harmony with the universe.

There was only a time I can recall great achievers in the
Christendom. When was that? The time of the apostles, the early Church and the
great saints of the Church; these were men who detached themselves from the
world in other to become good church leaders. But what do we see today? Our
church leaders are the number one material guys in the church.
A lot of things have to change! I am a Christian. I love
Christ. I go to Church. I study the scriptures. I think for myself. I learn how
to be good from Church teachings. That’s all I can say.
