Time to grow: most Nigerians don't watch movies in the "real sense" rather they watch the performance of Nollywood stars.

I think is time to shake the mind of most Nigerians regarding their view on Nollywood. Nollywood can only grow when Nigerian movie viewers grow from the stage of concentrating on the performance of Nollywood stars, to the stage of watching movie "in the real sense".
The attitude of most Nollywood viewers has affected Nigerian movie industry in 2 specific cases
1. quality.
2. opportunity for upcoming Nollywood movie artistes.
In the case of quality, we realize that Nollywood is only the second largest in the world, in terms of the number of movies it produces and not based on quality. And this is because the consumers of these movies don't watch movies in "real sense."
what do I mean by watching movies in real sense? A good movie is rated basically on a good story and cinematography. The Characters are just there to drive the story. And the story is "more important" than the Characters.

However, to most Nigerians, the Characters are more important.to the viewers than the story and the
cinematography. And as long as the consumers of these movies don't grow, the producers will never be shaked to grow in other to meet the consumers demand.
Secondly, there are millions of talented artistes in Nigeria who can act better than the already known Nollywood stars. But because viewers don't care to see them act and appreciate them, producers too don't care to give them the opportunity to feature (in good roles).
So, in essence, what I'm saying is that time has come for nollywood to grow in producing "good movies" with good stories and good cinematography. And time has come when up coming artistes should be giving the opportunity to feature in good roles.

How can all these be achieved? We have to grow in the way we watch, appreciate and buy nollywood movies. Appreciate movies with good stories, good filming and good Characters (whether known or unknown )
